Could God Be Calling You?

Through Baptism, every Christian is called to holiness and to share in the mission of the Church. God calls each person to a particular vocation, a unique way of living out that call.

Some are called to marriage. Some are called to dedicated single life. Some are called to serve Christ and His Church through ordained ministry as priests or deacons, or through consecrated life as religious sisters and brothers.

The Church needs faithful men and women who are willing to listen to God’s voice and courageously respond to His call.

Exploring a Vocation

Have you ever wondered if God might be calling you to something more?

Perhaps you’ve considered:

  • The priesthood
  • The permanent diaconate
  • Religious life as a sister or brother
  • Missionary service or consecrated life

You don’t need to have all the answers. Vocational discernment begins by being open to God’s invitation and taking the next step.

If you feel even the slightest curiosity about a vocation in the Church, we encourage you to start a conversation. Our priests, deacons, and pastoral staff would be honored to listen to your story, answer your questions, and help you discern where God may be leading you.

Let’s Talk

Discerning a vocation is not something you do alone.

If you are interested in learning more about the priesthood, diaconate, religious life, or vocational discernment, please reach out to a member of our pastoral team.

Diocese of Davenport Vocations

The Diocese of Davenport provides resources, events, discernment opportunities, and personal guidance for those exploring a vocation to the priesthood or religious life.

Pray for Vocations

Jesus said, “Ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest.” (Matthew 9:38)

Please join us in praying for an increase in vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, and religious life, and for the men and women who are discerning God’s call in their lives.
