Becoming Catholic (OCIA)
Curious About the Catholic Faith?
Whether you have never been baptized, were baptized in another Christian tradition, or are a baptized Catholic who has not yet received all of the Sacraments of Initiation, we would love to walk with you on your journey of faith.
Becoming Catholic is about much more than joining a church. It is an invitation to encounter Jesus Christ, grow in a relationship with Him, and discover the beauty of the faith He entrusted to the Church. Ultimately, it is a journey of discipleship and a life lived with Christ.
Who Is This For?
The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) is for:
- Adults who have never been baptized and would like to become Christian and Catholic
- Adults baptized in another Christian tradition who are interested in becoming Catholic
- Baptized Catholics who have not yet received First Communion or Confirmation
- Anyone who simply has questions about the Catholic faith and wants to learn more
You do not need to be ready to become Catholic in order to begin the conversation. Many people start by simply asking questions and exploring the faith.
What Is OCIA?
OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) is the process by which adults learn about the Catholic faith and prepare to receive the Sacraments of Initiation.
Through prayer, discussion, Scripture, and fellowship, participants explore:
- Who Jesus Christ is
- What Catholics believe
- The Sacraments
- Prayer and the spiritual life
- The teachings and traditions of the Church
- What it means to live as a disciple of Jesus
This is not a class where you are pressured to join. It is an opportunity to ask questions, explore the faith, and discern where God may be leading you.

The first step is a conversation.
Children Over Age 7
Children over the age of reason who have not been baptized, or who have not completed their Sacraments of Initiation, follow a process adapted to their age and stage of faith formation.
